Hi guys anybody know where i can get some cheap brakes for my range rover l322 4.4 v8 02 reg??

I will need some new front discs and pads in few 1000 miles but want to shop around for prices now to be ready.

Any suggestions who do good prices???????

dont want to sound rude at all BUT... your brakes are what stop the 3 tonnes of machine you are driving, you need them to work first time and EVERY time.

To be honest brakes are something i would NEVER skimp on, if you are going to have to shell out for new discs and pads then do it, dont try and get inferior parts on the cheap when it comes to brakes.

If you need cheaper brakes why dont you sell the RR and buy a car you can afford to run properly ?

Are you guys for real or what??????????

I dont mean cheap brakes as in brakes made out of **** materials i mean someone who does them cheap ie land rover parts at reduced price come on i didnt think id have to explain that one.

I have more money than i need and the reason i have that is because i shop around and get the best prices for the products i want not the cheapest items i can get i know the importance of having good brakes i have had 400bhp impreza before so dont even judge me saying i cant afford to run my range rover.

Any sensible repsonses???

Not judging,it was a sensible response - fed up with owners of vehicles who cant afford to run them properly,an L322 is in no way a budget car,why dont you just ask for some discount at your local LR dealer ?

Totally agree with you, I am not the kind of person who just pays full price for things, I always shop around. The best place I found for brakes for other cars was my local motor factor Partco or LWSenors, for instance I got a set of brake pads with sensors for £35 for my 3.0 Audi. Now, I could have just gone to Audi and paid double this but that would be lining there pockets instead maintaining my wealth (only an expression)

Thats the thing id rather have it all under my bed than in a fat cats pockets so he can sun himself on holiday!!!

Not a sensible answer at all! you cant go around saying that all l322 owners cant afford to run them properly! fact is there not a budget car so how do you suggest that people who can afford to run them BUY the thing in the first place????

My car gets everything it needs but i refuse to pay full dealer price!! period thats it! Your suggestion of asking the land rover dealer for discount, on what grounds do you suggest i ask them on??? i cant afford my range rover can you give me discount please!!!!! Yeah im sure they say yeah have 50% off as you asked nicely!

Just where did I say ALL L322 owners ? Get off the grass, you asked a cocky question then got arsy when you didnt like the replies.Try your cheap pads and discs - but dont go moaning to the supplier when they squeal like mad or the pads ruin the discs in 10,000m.
I have a range of customers running Land rovers aged from 1951 to in warranty RR's - with incomes varying from minimum wage to film stars, 99% of them just want a good job done and safety and reliabilty are top priority.
What I see more and more of,(ask any garage owner for conformation) is people doing the sums to buy the flashiest car they can think of and not even considering how to run it properly.Sorry, but your original post smacked of the latter.

Where in that statement is there anything cocky???

There was only your reply i didnt like as it was a pointless contribute as it didnt answer my question in anyway.

Please do not answer any of my further post unless it contributes to the question in a positive manner.

Thank you

You really dont get it do you ? I already gave you the sensible answer - go to your local LR dealer, talk to the parts dept sensibly - treat them like humans with grey matter and ask for a reasonable discount over retail.
It does not seem to occur to people that asking nicely, rather than just moaning about rip off main dealer prices, may just get them a good result.

ok can we see if anybody else has any suggestion instead of turning a research forum in a pointless discussion.

Buy from the dealer and ask to become a member of the LR Allegiance and see what they say, if they say yes you get given a card and a 10% discount off all parts purchases and you also get other benefits n stuff. I dont know whether you have to spend a minimum ammount or be a regular customer to become part of it though, I know it wasnt offered to me straight away, it was only after around a year of ownership and various visits to the dealer did they offer it to me. It may also be for owners of older vehicles as well, not new ones, I cant remember.

I have just had to replace my pads and discs on my 02 L322.

Didn't really shop around but, I owned a Evo 6 for a few years and always had EBC Brakes on it.

I decided to buy EBC Pads and discs for my RR just to see what they are like. :: EBC Brakes Direct Limited :: sell them. They sell the RR originals along with their upgrades.

My Pads cost £75 and fitted them myself.

Buying the parts yourself and then getting a local garage to fit them will beat any Main Dealer

Hope this helps

A good brand i think Mintex & Lockheed make brakes for Land Rover (just put them in a different box)

you can get them from Paddocks

If i had to chose i would go for Mintex or Lockheed , but that’s just a personal preference, there quality and have high standards and good quality control, i bought Lockheed front disks 2 years ago and have has no problems with them at all, same for the brake pads too, i had a few sets of Genuine Land Rover pads before them (got them very cheap at old sodbury, and i don’t see any difference in ware or performance

Stupid question, but I'll asked anyway.

If I get both front and rear disks and pads replaced do I need the Caliper seal kit.

Also does anyone have a recommendation for where I can have these fitted around East Sussex for a fair price.

Thanks in advance

Nick no you don't, just get yourself a little copper grease, and use very sparingly DON'T get any on the pads or disks its a very easy job just 2 bolts to undo, the hardest bit is pushing the callipers back, (make sure you loosen to cap off the brake fluid reservoir) but you can do this with a LARGE pair of grips, i recommend doing 1 set at a time, bed them in (500 miles) then do the other set , check your front disks also if you have deep groves or there on the thin side replace them (again a very easy job to do 1 screw holds them in)
