Story is got car as project. Would turn over but not start. Checked fuel pressure at valve while cranking engine and even though can hear pump in tank did not get any reading at valve.so have now changed fuel filter for landrover one and I'm now going to change low pressure pump in tank.then see were this leaves me.

hiya

thks for the explanation as indeed helps outlining the history of the landy

plus hope the link helped ref testing etc , also ensure the fuel coolers / pipes are clear , never know the in-line tank pump might be covered in slime, inc if it’s been standing for a while

know those in tank pumps aren’t cheap and fingers crossed hasn’t caused damage to the HPFP

If I may also add, make sure the belts and oil pump cover has been replaced

Plse let us know how things go

Hi guys need some urgent help.ive replaced my old fuel tank and pump for one from 4x4 Kent with pump already installed.have connected this to the car but I've forgot which fuel pipe goes to were.there is a blue cap pipe and a yellow one that go to fuel filter.ive put them on but I'm getting no fuel through or any reading on fuel gauge.but can hear pump when ignition is on.

Without knowing just try swapping them over ans see if that works, if not there is a problem with the pump.
Is there enough diesel in the tank...

Have taken pipes off filter and switched on ignition but got no fuel from either pipe or any reading on fuel gauge car had £20 of diesel in tank .

Double check the connection on the tank electric plug. Sometimes the rubber seal in the plug can stop a positive contact. Also some reproduction parts can differ very slightly and can create a difficult connection, electrically.

Have checked electric plug connector all seems fine gauge still flashing and needle does not move yet on old tank had 1/4 tank of fuel gauge showing.

Lift the sender out of the tank, refit the plug and turn on the the ignition. Then move the sender arm and take a look at the dashboard and see if the gauge moves?

Have noticed when I turn ignition on the fuel gauge needle does move very slightly to the bottom of the gauge.
Do you need to drop the tank to do the pump? If not, put more fuel into it.
Did you compare both pumps before installing the new one?
Questions questions...
