L series auxillary belt

Hi all ,has anyone got a diagram or where can I find one to see how the auxillary belt goes on to all pulleys on the L series Freelander please

Thanks for that ,I knew I hadn't fitted it wrong ,looks like they've given me the wrong belt .

Is there not a different belt with or without air conditioning - or did all diesels get AC?

Yes ,one for AC ,one without .Mine has AC but belt is too big and listing stated with AC .

If its the wrong size its the wrong size, but do you have the old one to compare with?

That's an interesting point Grumpy - afaik all L series had A/C as standard ... but... ?
It would be a very 'interesting' belt run without it .. rave only shows the one belt run also.

Right just about to go out and see what the crack us with this belt .

excellent - I presume it was just the 'run' of the belt - ie the placement ?

Yes ,my fault DOH !!!!

Both the L series and 1.8 petrol had air con as an option in the uk, but none uk countries may have had it as standard due to warmer climates. I think the L series belt was 112 or 114 teeth depending on which yer had.

edit: oops I was thinking cam belts

Think that's the cam belt - aux belt isn't toothed.

There's very few of the early cam belt engines in Freelander - but forget which is the common one!

yer right I is thinking of the wrong belt.

Belts been fitted 6 weeks and the tensioner pulley has disintegrated, have looked for another one but apparently you have to buy the whole tensioner,is that right as you can remove the pulley ?

When I was sourcing bits to do the belts one bit stood out as so much more expensive than the others - may have been the aux tensioner.

Do not skimp on it though!!!!!

If there is a part to fail and take out the whole engine on the L Series, it is the aux tensioner. When they go the aux belt itself gets caught up in the main pulley and takes out the cam belt and then the associate valves hitting pistons etc.

It sounds like you've been lucky and/or spotted it in time. You could try https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/

Its the alternator/AC belt not the cam belts .

Exactly - that's why I wouldn't skimp on the tensioner.

I've had a look and a new one is going on and then I'm selling it .
