hi lads ,is there any experts on l.p.g. systems on here ? my 2000 4.6 v8 has had engine re-built completely now just awaiting re-fit into car ,engine had done 105000 and slipped a liner on piston 6 . anyway the re-build garage indicated that I should have a lubricating device fitted to lpg system ,, cost approx. £80 ,,I have a multipoint zavolli system fitted 3and half years old and works perfect ,does anybody know the reasons why and what benefits it would bring if I had the lubricator fitted ???????????????????????:crazy_driver::crazy_driver::crazy_driver:cheers mozz opions would be most welcome ,,,,apart from the tractor boys saying " should a bought a diesel """" ha ha
 
AFlashlube system lubricates the valve seats to prevent them from wearing out...this is because LPG is dry when it is injected whereas petrol is wet...

The lube just prevents valve seat regression issues is all....
 
I'm no expert Mozz but Flashlube seems to be the most popular. It helps lubricate valves, valve seats as LPG is more of a dry fuel than unleaded.
 
Hi Saint, do you have this on yours? I was wondering myself what the cost & maintenance of this would be?
 
A flashlube system was originally fitted when the fuel was leaded and it took the place of lead lubricating the valve seat and preventing valve recession.
Since the introduction of unleaded fuel the valve seats and valves have been made of a different material and it is not necessary for the flashlube to be fitted but you could always be on the safe side and fit it bearing in mind that it has to be topped up regulary and adjusted correctly.
 
Just had my lpg serviced so i asked them about putting a flash lube system on and they said know need with the v8 rover lumps as the valves are up to it , so realy its up to you.
