Hiya

I just wondered if any one knows where i could get a kinetic tow belt? I've found places that sell the ropes but ideally would rather a belt.

thanks

I suggest doing your homework on them too as they can be very dangerous if you don't use them properly. There's certain techniques that should be used.

Brief Theory & Practical:

Few people will do everything advised in that video because sometimes it may be a bit OTT but at least you will be more informed after watching it.

You are working under a misapprehention.

Strops are very rigid and will snatch if they are used for a recovery. Most of the time the snatch factor isn't that important but to be honest they should only be used if you need nothing more than a gentle tug.

A Rope on the other hand has some natural give in it. It will naturally stretch and cause the pulling power to be deliverred more smoothly.

Kinetic ropes take this facility to the nth degree. They are both effective and insanely dangerous if they are used by people without proper training or experience. I witnessed a recovery using a kinetic rope where the rope pulled the tow bar clean off the rangie it was attached to; and the tow ball and the rope flew straight back and punched a hole in the front of the motor and continued straight through the rad.

If that had been the windscreen it would have been disastrous and caused death... and could easily have been avoided if the recovery vehicle had left their bonnet up to protect the screen and occupants - again lack of experience.

I would strongly recommend that you use a decent rope. Get used to the way it performs when you perform a recovery and if needs be go to a p&p site and practice your recovery techniques with it. There is little that you can achieve with kinetic rope that you will not achieve with a standard decent rope and some graft.

This is just my opinion and I do not mean to lecture anyone... there are those much more experienced than I am on here.
