Disco 2 Key transponder

Good afternoon all
After looking for a new key and trying to get a new key fob, I went to our local Timpsons. The man put my old key into his reader and said "This key does not have a transponder" and also he did not have my type key anyway.

So i then went and look at e-bay and found a good replacement shell and blank key for £6, and got it. But to cut a long story short.........When i took the old bits out of the old key to put them into my new shell, There was no transponder........As for the car......when i go to open it and start it the immobiliser light flashes then when i put the key to start the light goes out and the car starts.

So the thing I am asking is, Am I the only one with a car that has this ????

Is it the original key that had no transponder?

I have made a spare placement key that had no trasponder and recoded it to unlock the doors using nanocom and it worked , started the car ok, even though my original key had a transponder. I have been told the transponder only comes into play if you unlock and do not start the car within a time limit, but have never bothered to actually check if this is correct on my car.

Sorry dont know. This was the only key that i got when i got the car. So if i do not start the car in time after unlocking, Do i need to lock then unlock it again?

I have just been and tested it, unlocked remotely, ( key without transpponder ) left for 90 seconds opened door and started car , the above is what I was told, If it did cause a problem then I would just as you say lock and unlock again.
