Hello, I'm new to the community, and just got myself a ex-mod defender 110

It started fine the first about, 4 times, then after that, this is all it's done

It passed a MOT a few months ago with no advisories, has fuel in the tank, has enough oil, and has just had a new battery, as I thought that was the problem with it sitting for so long, but this still happens

I took a video as well, I couldn't explain it that well if I wanted to haha :) (please excuse the annoying kids in the background)

Landrover Defender Starting Problem - YouTube

It fails to turn over and just clicks, and tries to do something, but no joy

Any help greatly appreciated

Sounds like either a bad connection/starter or battery.
First check battery connections, check to see if loose/hot or dirty.
Turn on lights , are they bright?
After that try charging the battery

hate to say it but u dont sound like someone that needs a landrover !

It's more of a weekend toy, for airsoft and offroading, plus, I have always loved them, I'm just very, very bad with car's haha! :D

The connections are fine, lights are bright, brand new battery I got today from Halfords, all the electrics are working fine, so I'm thinking starter, I'm only 17, first car, and again, very bad knowledge of the sort of workings of cars haha

Nah it's 12v, was working fine on a 12v battery before

Lights are very bright, defanitely not battery as I said, brand new today

Might not be classed as "needing" one, but I really want to get into them as I have always had a fascination for them, especially ex-mod ones, again, only 17 haha! and I dont know too much about cars

sounds like a bad earth to me! try run a jumper cable from the batt negative to the starter negative (think thats what i was told anyway) and this will either prove me right or rule out an earth fault.

starter is at the back of the engine, under the inlet manifold.
