Hey,

Just got myself a Freelander TD4 Sport Facelift.
It's my first 4x4 and have purchased it ready for towing my Track and Race cars around the country. Came up cheap with a couple of small issues so was too good to miss.

Had it a week and loving it so far, just ordered everything to do a full service, including some extras which after looking around this forum are worth checking / changing.

Breather Upgrade,
EGR Bypass,
Boost Solenoid Valve,
MAF Sensor (Original Bosch),
Fuel Pump under wheel arch and Filter.

The rear window tailgate also doesn't open or close. Which is causing an issue in the car not thinking the door is closed therefor can't lock the car without it complaining. So i've ordered brand new regulator and cable kit. Going to have a go at servicing it myself.

Only engine issue I seem to have is the common issue of it not accelerating up a hill and the engine light coming on briefly whilst demanding toque. Although I believe that's down to the turbo boost solenoid valve?
Also seems a little down on power / gutless between 30 - 50mph in 2nd and 3rd. Which i'm hoping the MAF sensor and EGR Bypass will help with.

Saying that maybe i'm just not used to a heavy 4x4 and 110hp :p

Looking forward to using it and towing with it. It's great for where I live out in the country.

Cheers Jay

Welcome I had a 2001 freelancer td4 for a long time loved it just needed more ground clearance so got another disco 1 remember the crankcase breather a lot of people forget about it

Yeah, I didn't go for anything too serious off road as won't be using it off road that much, more for towing / grassy camp sites. I've ordered the new BMW upgrade without the filter element. Fit and forget thing.

What are the symptoms of a clogged up Filter? I've had a look round and is there an obvious way to tell if its totally clogged?
