great promotional video...

no winch sail no tree strop and at one point the guys standing right next to the winch wire as its under strain

..good luck with it but are you expecting a winch that costs under £200 to last?

As I say occasional use only so could not justify mega money on something that I will probably only use a few times a year, what i have saved over a branded one can use to fix if needed

Don't know anyone that has one but it'll be interesting to find out how you get on with yours? My experience of Chinese machinery (assuming it's made in China?) is good and bad so only time will tell if it's a good purchase or not?

You do need to be wary of unbranded winches - the kingpin is the usual problem area. That lets go and so does the winch. They usually just swarf up and lock the motor.

Let us know how you get one with it! You never know, it could turn out to be a good one. I don't want to dampen your spirit - seems like a good buy. Keep it maintained and it should do the job, you won't be using it every day so don't loose faith.

I have seen cheap branded ones fail after a couple of uses, so don't fear if it does - just ensure you have the guarantees to hand and keep them safe! If it is a new importer, they may well have good service.

Keep us informed on how it goes...

my mate has one, brought it about month or so ago just you didn't have the money to spend on an expensive one so went for it one! its actually a really look winch and does the job really well when we put it though its pases

Just bought this winch off ebay, only want to use it for occasional pay and play days nothing to mental,£195 plus £40 postage. anyone got one or know anything about them good or bad.

Heavy Duty Electric Recovery Winch 13000Lbs 12Volt on eBay (end time 05-Jan-11 18:14:14 GMT)

Now looking for tubular winch bumper. Anyone looking for near perfect bumper with chrome A bar PM me

That is 100% identical to a WinchMax - except for the lack of orange paint.

Suposidly WinchMax are made on the same production line as SuperWinch (not that that means anything, but, not a terrible sign either)

Thus, i'd suggest that that is basically a winch max.

Got a 12,500 version sat on my living room floor at present looking very shiny :) Paid a bit more than you did though :(

mmmm interesting!

i would be interested in knowing how you get on with it..
as you, I never had the need to use a winch, but having one sometimes is good, thus not really justifying spending loads on one if its not getting much use...

but that looks like a good option if only to be used a couple of times a year

make sure the cable glands are done up really tight, not just finger tight, maybe pack them with vaseline or similar once the cables are in but before they are tightened.

Cable glands??? Know FA about winches, any knowledge or advice will be gratefully received.
Any good reads on use and safety.

i bought that winchmax one. 12,500lbs. took off the solenoid and extended the wires so i could put it under the passenger seat, have since used it while submerged in muddy water and no problems so far.

keep it greased and go as easy on it as u can every time and all will be well

Assuming hand book will give full maintenance advise. solenoid in the dry that sounds good, will look into that. What should be kept greased.

thats cos everyone else uses there winches to pull you out:p:D

hahaha! could be.. but no, never been winched out..basically cause none of my mates i usually lane with have winches..

as there's always a minimum of 3 of us when we go out, so the tow ropes do the job.
but having a winch for the odd ocasion might be good...

What about the wireless receiver? and the cable socket thing? Did you leave them in the box with the winch or move them too?

everythin i could get off went under the passenger seat. dont know whats what im afraid but all except the main body of the winch was moved inside. the plug in bit was under the seat yeah.
