@Mark Piercy , as above, the silver and blue SBC are add ons for wireless headphones.
I'd take a guess that the grey DVD unit is original, ( it's same colour as the multi-cd changer in my glovebox)moved out of it's home for the multi-changer unit. Kept for what reason I have no idea.

Addit: Just looked again due to @backinblack 's comment. Parcel shelf unit looks a lot like my satnav. From memory :D

Snakes wedding comes to mind, and you know if you disconnect the wrong thing the whole universe will implode and even if you then rewire it as you found it, it will never work again. Sorry mate I am not much help on this one.

Top pic FM transmitter to broadcast to FM frequency on head unit.

Philips stuff for wireless headphones https://www.picclickimg.com/d/w1600...hones-with-Digital-Tuning-System-Charging.jpg

DVD ROM standard sat nav

6 CD changer probably standard kit
Thank you @backinblack, there us also a Playstation 2 which the Philips would have been transmitting too.

But mounted on the parcel shelf? That's not right, surely.

LR would have made a better job of mounting that too. ;)
Thats were I placed them as the inner rear wing is as wet à wet thing covered in wetness!

satnav it is, standard kit that one then. Thanks :D
Thank you one and all, I've got to leave it now for 24 hrs to check the voltage drop and if we have a reasonable amount, I've then got to reconnect the bare minimum and see how it fairs from thereo_O.

Excellent, thank you very much indeed. I guess the next 24hrs will tell if there are any changes. I don't suppose there is a little transmitter in there also?
EDIT- I’m a plank, the bottom unit in mine is the DVD multi changer not CD as I stated.
Sorry.
I do agree with the PlayStation headphone recharging battery gizmos. I’d be inclined to remove these if you don’t have the tv screens or headphones to go with them.
Tricky.

The play station would explain the audio in to the fm transmitter.

Quick google search shows one of those dvd changers for sale that was removed from an X5.
