Hi Folks,
You only join a forum when you have a problem!! Just bought a 2002 td4 freelander or gaylander as I've noticed they're preferred to be called on this site!!! Runs great, really pleased and travelling down to Bedford from Scotland find all three lights (TC, ABS & HDC) come on and stay on. Thrown a few replies to those with similar problems and awaiting a response. Always looking for a bright spark out thee to point me in the right direction!!

Thanks Mad Hat Man, I checked a number of threads and it's a bit confusing to say the least. There doesn't seem to be a common fault as a rsult of the lights coming on together but a number of possibles. Looks like a diagnostics test in Bedfordshire somewhere!!

Hello there

This has been covered a fair few times. A symptom f a few different problems, but a first, simple step is to check the wires and their connection to the HDC switch under the gearstick housing. It's a matter of removing a few screws so is relatively easy and worth ruling out.

Cheers

Blippie

Thanks Blippie, I did those checks and a few others and finaly found an independent rover dealer who did a diagnostics test over the ecu and found the rear left ABS sensor faulty. Got a new one ordered and hopefully that will solve the problem
Thanks to all who gave advise :) and not so thanks for those awake at god knows what time in the middle of the night with the not so funny a sense of humour who didn't help with any descent adivise!! !

dont hold your breathe for the sensor to sort this problem out, my sensor was changed and the lights came back on it then went to have another diagnostic, have just been told that it the ABS ECU unit which is very expensive. Just getting one of ebay. Good Luck.........

Downhill advise going nowhere - you worked it out well done!!
Thanks nikkym, I'll try the sensor first and hope for the best! Hope its not the ABS ECU? Did you get one off ebay at a good price?

Hi ebay is about £95 plus postage about £10.00 it going for a proper diagnostic tomorrow landrover wanted £1000 for this part, what a joke for a little piece of circuit board. Anyway i will keep you posted of the findings tomorrow.

Superb - I've got a guy off ebay stripping down a td4 and looking at the senors for me - just hope they're in good nick and I can use them. Interested to know how you get on with the ECU.

Sorry matey not my bag still trying to deal with ABS sensor and been quoted £325 for two old ones! Smacks a bit in the face me thinks

Hi & Welcome Berry TD4

Sorry that you are having problems with your warning lights but if it's any consolation it concerns all modern cars and not just Landys.
Wifes got a New beetle that runs perfectly well regardless of the array of ESP,Air Bag.......christmas tree lights on the dash!!!

Thanks Jason,
I was getting a bit wound up about it, but it's given me the incentive to get into the book/cd and get to know the car, save some money and replace the parts I think I can and without spending a fortune on parts that probably don't need replacing  but would have done if I went to a Landy Dealer:eek: !!!
