Forgive the noob (to Discovery 2) question as I've never tried my machine on a Land Rover, and barely used it on a few Jaguars ........

Can I use my 2018 JLR with Mongoose lead on Discovery 2 for such tasks as checking EKA Code, and any programming work I may want to do in the future etc ?

No. SDD is for Ford based software from around 2005 onwards, not the BMW based software of the early models.

Thanks for the reply, I might have guessed that'd be too easy, the RF Locking doesn't work but C/L is all good using Key Blade and Car starts fine so I guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed until I can find that EKA code, PO doesn't have it :(

I read about that in the stickies, also only got one Key with it so knowing my luck right now .......... etc etc etc

I'll have a look see on my Snap On, but it likely wont go near stuff like this, certainly doesn't on most others, that's why I got so many other Dealer Level kits for all the popular stuff I see up here ;) Best see if I can find a Test Book or Lynx going begging ;)

Only a few work with Disco 2. Hawkeye, Lynx and Nanocom Evolution being the main ones.
Might possibly be selling my Nanocom Evolution, unlocked for Disco 2 and Freelander 2 complete with both leads, excellent condition and in original box.

Give me first refusal on the Nanocom, I do want to try my Snap On as recent updates have given me a lot more functions, which render a couple of my existing dealer level kits almost useless now as it does do keys etc etc on a lot of vehicles I wouldn't expect it to. I am aware about OBD and K Line comms etc etc as that stuff is my core business, I virgin ECU's Body Modules etc, as well as general repairs and servicing mostly on Mercedes but also on other cars too.

Discovery is arriving today, at which point I will be ordering Steering Box, and some other bits, plus Key repair parts, buttons etc.

I got another question, but will start a separate thread on that later, I assume that is forum protocol ;)
I must say I read a lot yesterday and find the Forum a nice relaxed place to hang out and will offer help as and when I can.
Nearly 20 years ago I had a RRC in Chamonix White ground up built by myself, later I fitted 6.2 litre V8 Chevy diesel, that was an awesome weapon, I used to tow my boats with it, wish I'd never sold that ;)

I also had (some) hair back then rofl

They were my uniform at Lydd Waterski Club where I used to barefoot, until I moved Norwest to Dornie area ;)

The locals up here took the **** a bit at first but soon got used to them, just sooooo comfortable ;)

BTW how do I get rid of my Volvo Avatar and put a suitable piccie in it's place ? Perhaps I have to wait until I have been here a while ? Post count ?

Just for accuracy the D2 Td5 has nothing to do with BMW at all, it's Lucas protocol developped fpr Rover
That's worth remembering. Lots of newer LR vehicles used the BMW protocol, presumably the D2 was designed before BMW started having much influence.

Lucas still isn't the Ford protocol, so SDD won't work.

I have to say I didn't think it was Ford, but being a noob here and just back to Landys after a few years, never had D2 etc I wasn't about start questioning anyone ;)
But yeah, my 110 Defender TD5 was Lucas and so were some of the Rover MG Cars we used to fiddle with many moons ago ;)

Thanks for the clarification guys. I'm busy, fitted my plates on it, now shovelling and vaccing out the interior ;) Pics are pre cleaning, and it's not my plate that's wonky on the front its the A Bar ;)

Paint wise a couple of laquer peels only on top of Drivers Door edge and Fuel Flap, will re paint the Fuel Flap and top of Door edge that will just get 2000 grit feathering and a bit of clear on top ............
I gotta remember this is a workshop Disco before I do my usual and end up minting it roflmao

It's coming up half tidy considering age and mileage and I'm only at the Hoovering stage ;)
Haven't found anything much that doesn't work yet, except Key Buttons and the ACE and Air, but it's on Coils and got the non ACE Rollbars which I am perfectly happy about ;) its also had the Diff Lock parts fitted (lever etc) happy dayz that'll save me a job ;)

I'll try plugging the Snap Off into it later see what it can see ;)

Have ordered the Steering Box that is number 1 priority right now, bought a rebuilt unit for it from a firm I used to use when I was darn sarf ;)

Just to finalize this thread ....

Thanks to all who offered advice.

@swatts70 I won't need the Lynx thanks ....

My Snap On is accessing all systems, and I managed to pull the EKA Code out of the BCU, it can also do a lot of other stuff, and it is seeing all modules.

Pleased to say the Vehicle only has two fault codes in Engine, Air Flow Meter looks to be duff, (I did think it was sluggish compared to my Defender), so I will look into that and likely it needs a MAF, the Air Flow Data is certainly showing Zero, so easiest thing will be to swap the MAF first before getting into a possible Wiring issue ;)

Once again thanks guys :)

(The Car doesn't have A/C BTW) Well I haven't seen any evidence of it, but been busy with other stuff ;)

MAF was the culprit, as opposed to a wiring O/C drives much nicer now :)

Def no Air Con.

Big boxes of parts arriving, been busy with Customers heaps, lift will be clear tomorrow morning until Tuesday, so I should get a long weekend on the Disco, hoping most of the parts get here by Sat Morning, Enjoying driving the beastie :)

I added up all the invoices today, almost £1200, but around £300 of that was some nice to haves and cosmetics which is just me being a tart ;) I must find the time to get the Daves Disco 2 Project thread up and running ............. TTFN
