Hi guys,
New boy here, ive had Disco's before but all diesel so im a V8 virgin!!
Just looked over a V8 2001 Disco 4.0...everything seems to go fine, smooth ride, temp guage behaves itself but the fliud reservoir tanks look like a jaccusi when the engine is running, the fluid in both tanks slosh about all over the place...it brakes and steers fine though...is this supposed to happen?.....if not what could it be??
Hope you guys can help.

regards

Does anyone elses do this?..or do the fluids just sit level in the tank when the engine is running?
I am right in thinking that this is the brake/steering fluid?..as i look at the engine from the front, the bottles are just off to the right of the lump and roughly in the middle.
Can you tell i know bugger all about these engines???? lol:)

Yeah, but giv uz a chance ffs! This is a message board, not a chat room!

No, brake fluid resevoir should NEVER froth, but I suspect you weren't looking at the brake fluid res.

Front nearside of the engine bay, big dark brown bottle, with a fluted cap, with ZF mouldedon it should be the Power Steering reservoir; level should be about half way down it, and you shouldn't see the fluid easily unless its been over filled.

Frothing normally means that either seals have gone in the steering box, or the pump has gone.

Cant think that there is another reservoir in that area unless its the widscreen washer bottle...... if that's frothy? Too much washing up liquid in it?

It doesnt sound like anything serious, taken on board re: not a chatroom...lol.....its just that im picking it up in the morning and i wouldnt want to part with my hard earned greens if there was a big prob and i knew the knowledge on here would help me out!
Cheers for that.

Keith
