Hi, I've got a 300TDI disco that's mechanically perfect-ish and the chassis is sound, I've looked into hybriding it at some point in the probably distant future but IVA puts me off.
Asked the DVLNI (I'm in NI) about it and it would need IVAed if I modified the chassis, but what if I didn't, can it be done? The body outriggers I've figured out how to avoid chopping them off to replace them with defender ones, just a few large box- section adapters.
The rear crossmember I'm a bit stuck on, don't know if the DVLNI would let me weld on a defender crossmember behind the original discovery one (I noticed everyone ends up closer to 90 overhang rather than 110 overhang, I'd rather a shorter 110 than a longer 90 if that makes sense. And I can't think of a way to add on a suitable crossmember without welding onto the original chassis.
If its gonna end up needing an IVA then so be it I'll just wait longer and build it to their spec. Or longranger tray-back cab on the disco shell and a 130 Hcpu tub on the back
