Hi everyone,

My new Disco's arrived, it's great, but I don't need to tell you that as you already know!

2 Issues have arisen:

1) It's a '53 plate vehicle, which has rust! Most obviously on the welded join at the top of the post between the front and rear doors (both sides of car), and at the base of the black post between the 2 sheets of glass in one of the rear passenger doors, this is quite bad. I'm stunned it's present on such a new car, is it a common problem? Has anyone dealt with this or a similar issue with Land Rover? Did they sort it out? Should I check elsewhere on the car for rust?

2) It's got LR Sat Nav, which so far seems pretty good. Visually it looks like a normal stereo headset with a large b&w screen which comes forward to reveal the slot for the sat nav cd. The disc it came with was the original from when the car was new. I'd like to upgrade to the latest or at least a more recent disc and expect you can source them cheaper away from a dealer - but where? Don't suppose anyone updates every year and has an old disc from last year they don't need any more?

Thanks for your help

Thanks for your support - just what this site is about. Since your a Senior member I'd of expected a more mature approach to the question.

Of course it didn't appear overnight, I knew it was there, and also knew it can be fixed. The car was attractively priced, and checked out well with just this exception. I was simply interested to hear others experiences.

Now howabout, you type something worth reading or button it?

Just got a set of four disc's for my 03 off evil bay, if you drop me a PM I'll have a go copying them for you, they are Becker Traffic Pro 47?? v9.0 and they work ok in my head unit. Once you install them you have to do a little drive round the block to calibrate the unit but after that no problems.
CD 1:
Sweden,
Finland, Great Britain, Ireland, Denmark, Norway
CD 2:
Austria,
Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland
CD 3:
Andorra,
Belgium, France, Monaco, Portugal, Spain
CD 4:
Austria,
Switzerland, Czech Republic, Liechtenstein, Italy, San Marion, Vatican City, Slovakia
Hope this will help.

I am considering retro fitting a Becker head unit to my 03.

Mind if I ask which model is fitted to yours and do you know if they require a special aerial

Yes seen plenty of different versions on flea bay of the sat nav disk....unless you can get it cheap I wonder is there any point in upgrading as maps will mostly be the same. I have seen them priced from £4.20 (outbid at last minute!!!) to £25 for a blatant copy but 07 maps.

My 52 plate has a tiny bit of rust where the rubber edging on rear side door window stops and tiny bit of rust there. I will use Kurust and carefully prime it etc. Then paint over with a bit of black hammerite but luckily mine is only a small spot at moment

Most are the Becker traffic pro 4765. The aerial comes with the kit for the freelander and replaces the existing one. For the Disco I'm not sure as you have the rear window aerial??

Regards,

Steve

When I mention rear window I mean on the RH side of the vehicle on the RH boot window. The heated rear screen is a heated rear screen only. :)

I just mentioned the aerials, I didnt say anything about fitting sat nav ones on the rear windows. On the Philips sat nav systems (fitted before Becker traffic Pros) the GPS sensor (Gyroscope) was seperate and could be fitted on or behind the dash.

The traffic pros (I can only mention freelander as never seen one fitted on a disco) sensors are mounted under the aerial and fit in the void where the interior light is fitted.

Steve
