Right so various things done on my Disco 1 Tdi 300 Auto Jap EDC flybywire Jap import.
Brass plugs put on the engine, new p-gasket, new water pump, newbelts and tensioners, Steering rack and panhard bushes.
Then I get a load of stuff and start doing some work myself the above was a landrover specialist.
So service the Disco all filters, oil etc. bit of a leak but nothing major, change temp sensors both on block and near thermostat oh and change thermostat too. New battery, new glow plugs.
So everything seems to be running ok and I figured I will tackle a few remaining jobs such as change the lift pump, fix the door regulator front drivers side, fix rear passenger door wont open from inside, fix the rear seat belts as the anchor isnt attached so basicly the seatbelt isnt attached lol. And then go around the car and sort out some of the seals etc even as a temp measure maybe silicon up some holes etc and then finally tackle a little bit of rust here and there that needs attention.
BUT......before I got to do that and just when I was all happy with myself ......Check engine light comes on lack of acceleration, seems to be changing gears up and down slower and can barely reach 60mph and take sometime to get there. Noticed also when you start the car the check engine light goes until the moment you touch the accelerator then it comes on and stays on untill you next turn the car off. The Disco has always needed a few cranks to start only when its been sat for 8 hours or more and basicly cooled down it can be difficult to start but always does then a puff of white smoke and then it clears straight after and everything is normal.
Now I figured thats just normal as its an EDC auto tdi 300 lol. Oh and to make matters worse as I was already thinking woe is me as I need this to be semi realiable as I have a baby due in march and the missus already has a list of jobs for me 300 miles long..........but I go to open the fuel cap........key snaps off so now I cant open the fuel cap...........sigh.
I did force it open and now its being held shut with tape.........The diagnostic equipment seems expensive from what I could see online so I gather to get that check light investigated its back to a garage and more expensive bills?
Sorry for the above life story I think Im feeling a little sorry for myself just one of those moments money is tight and as I said baby on the way so that is sucking funds out of me, I was kinda wishing for a lttle run of smooth motoring.
