If I leave my Disco 2 out in the sun on a hot day (30 C +) and the car ends up getting very hot indeed then the immobiliser seems to begin to have issues to the tune of the following: my key remotes stop working leaving me to sweat in the sun next to it, having entered the manual door code, whilst it counts down 5 minutes before allowing me to get in it.... can anyone help with this baffling heat sensitivity my Disco seems to have developed???? It is most odd.

Regards,:confused::mad:

LOOOOL i only just noticed that the first post was 1 year agao :(

May be im as bad answering it lol

Mine does a similar thing but when its cold - usually frost in winter, the key button will not unlock the doors, I have to unlock the drivers door with the key which sets off the alarm however pressing the unlock button on the key then works which silences the alarm and cancels the immobiliser. Central locking then worsk normally.

A friends TD5 does exactly the same in cold weather!

well that rules out the receiver then as it should not work at all outside or in if you are trying to unlock outside and you cant and then use the key to open door and then silence the alarm so it proves that works ok but after that only wiring unless the recevier does not like the heat/cold difference from the outside, is the receiver mounted in the roof near rear sunroof area or is it behind rear panels ?

With my car, I put it down to the receiver not liking the cold - or perhaps in the original posters case, not liking the heat, perhaps the alarm going off 'wakes' it up again!

IIRC it is located in the roof, around the sunroof handle area, not much insulation from either heat or cold, I did think about putting some insulation around it but did wonder if this would prevent the radio signal from being received, so never did any more about it. Could be worth experimenting with.

its worth a go like putting some sort of heat reflector and also something to keep it warm like an electric blanket as long as the signal goes through the window should be ok, maybe the electric blanket is a bit silly thou!

hi if its a disco 2 it wont have a 10 as system all done by the[ bcm] body control module,black box nearside behind glove box.

Sorry , you are correct , i was thinking of the defender td5 i was working on today to make run with no 10as fitted.
( IMMO/SECURITY FREE )

I typed b4 i thaught, i stand corrected.

that's an odd one about the cold temp, but my receiver shuts down all together in the heat whether i'm in the car or not! i reckon you might be onto something with some insulation tigapiglet... ! it is very strange prob indeed

ps receiver is in roof between s/roofs so susceptable to the warming sunshine!
