Yeap thats real. Cat theft is on the increase for the platinum they contain. Seems excessive though.

Depends business use then lorry cats cost serious money I might get one if I ever loose my cats but I have 2 so would cost me.

Sprinter vans are common targets at the moment. Cats on them are summit like £1500 new and need programming too.

There was a spate of nicking them off 4x4s in Swindon a few years back, so I removed my one on the L series and fitted a bypass pipe as it wasn't needed. All it really does is stop the diesel fume smell, which it certainly did, but our local thieving scum wouldn't know that.. Once removed, the exhaust smelled of diesel which it hadn't done before. Still got the cat in the shed- must get it on ebay sometime...

My mate who breaks Freelanders had the cats nicked off every one in his yard a while back. That was around 15 vehicles.

If it left the factory with a cat, it must be there for the MOT. Petrol engines only mind, a diesel will pass without the cat fitted.

dpf you will find it's used to stop the bad stuff getting out but you have to lace the car so it can purge the bad **** in one go
