Just wondering, is there anything out there thats made to temp protect paint panels of 4x4s for off roading ?

as my range rover paint is all nice and not scratched up, i just wondered if there is some sort of thing that can be put over bonnet, wings, side panels to protect the paint from scratches when going off road/laning, as to then be able to take a nice range rover in to slightly more tighter lanes/woods than you normaly would

may sound stupid, but i was thinking you can get them big magnetic decal type things to sick on cars, like big football team badges and signs etc, and wondered if theres any big panel shaped ones/kits you can buy for 4x4s or even big cut to size sheets ?

even just the wings, doors, rear quarter covered would give good scratch protection from bushes and branches and what not, and not hard to make i wouldnt of thought and on/off in minutes

is there anything like that ?

you could get your vehicle wrapped if yer that worried about it.

Or you could get some bolt on rubbing bars. Summit tells me that stick on or magnetic protectors might get pulled off by bushes.

i agree they may do, although im only talking light scratch protection, brambles and bushes that catch the side, if its a big section that just fitted over the bonnet say, it wouldnt easily come off would it if a branch/bush caught it

i know it sounds crazy, but its also doable, it would only come off if the edges caught by a branch or really scraped hard, but im not talking that, im just talking for light bushes and bramble type senario that when brushed on a nice painted finish would scratch it

TBH if you're worried about scratches then maybe best keep it on tarmac. I got over the scratch/dent phobia once I realised my son's cause more damage than taking it off the tarmac:eek:

That's what T-cut is for.;):p

Artex, applied liberally with a roller, will stop any branches or twigs marking any part of your paintwork. :D You should be able to find it in any '80s retro decorating store.

I remember a review of something in LRO once that would do what you want - they were cut to size stick on clear plastic sheets.

They only seemed to do them for Defenders though.

Apparently they just peeled off too when you wanted to remove them. No idea who made them though.

If you want I'll trade you a 1998 Ford Mondeo saloon for your RR, then you won't have to worry your pretty head about your paint.....:D:p;)

used to wrap my old 4 door classic in industrial poly with really wide (4inch) leccy tape but it was really a pain in the arse to do. decided now not to use my 2 door in the really rough stuff and have bought a trooper, beuty of that is that it has steel panels . I have already got a roll of the white magnetic stuff and cut it all to shape and it fits well and sticks really well so next laning trip we shall see.

you will just have to buy a slitty to do it :p
