I'm about to replace my final disc on the drivers front side. When I noticed this... Is it me being daft or is there something missing from my steering?? I've attached a drawing from google.

Cheers for looking ;)

daft question does that look like paint on the springs or something rubbing ??

sorry muse meant to put that in a reply to ur good self , lol

Did you pull the wheel off from the bottom? Looks like the tyre has caught the spring and rubbed the crap off it

Haha Nope I wiped the dirt off just out of interest :)

Could the PAS leak be the issue? Any common areas to look out for etc?
Cheers again everyone.

have you tried undoing drag link from the drop arm on the box jacking both wheels up and turning the wheels lock to lock by hand, could be box but pump is more common

Not sure I'll check tomorrow

no worries

thk god i put new tyres on the back last week, must have known,

one of them was down to 3mm , far too low for my liking

maybe it's a land rover thing in knowing when bad weather is coming

drove like a dream, didn't even have to put it into the terrain setting , didn't miss a beat

wish i had bought one ages ago

Sorry I haven't yet, been preoccupied with the discs and brakes. This one Im changing the brake pads had completely disintegrated! the disc is also very worn. After this I will check the pump, and then try what you said in my other post. So jack up the front wheels onto stands, go underneath and undo the 18mm nut to release the drop arm from the steering box. Then pull it free and try to manually move the wheels? Must I put full lock on before disconnecting to ensure it goes back on at the correct angle? Is it easy to put back together, Id hate to wreck it on my drive and not get to garage haha.

Cheer again Jamesmartin you're very knowledgeable.

wheels can be in any position to remove the drag link you will need to smack the end of the arm to release the joint with a decent sized hammer to release it from the rod

Just imagine changing a tyre with twelve months wear left on it. Spendthrift. :D:D
