Is propshaft removal a.......

....fuel saving fact or is it just a way of hiding the fact that
the transfer box is shagged???

Also how do you tell if the transfer box is shagged if the propshaft has been removed?

it does save some fuel, but generally, if you're looking at a used freelander with no rear prop, odds on the vcu is knackered. (doesn't have a transfer box). if vcu is knackered and ignored, it will then take out ird, which is similar to transfer box.

as for telling is the vcu is shagged, like I say odds on if props missing, vcu shagged.

if the seller says there is nothing wrong, but was done for fuel economy, ask him/her to replace prop before you buy it, then go through usual tests

I think the the saying is.... fools rush in where angel fear etc etc etc, IVE brought it, but i have to say that it was a fantastic bargain, so there is money in the pot!!

So! i am expecting to spend money on it, done the head gasket and its running as sweet as a nut now, and ive got to go and collect a full propshaft/vcu today, just gotta hope that its not the only thing missing/stuffed bit of the drivetrain.....but with my sort of luck????? lol

So i'm hoping for a bit of luck over the next few days, collect prop, tools out, attach prop, start engine, 1st gear, ???????? will it go or not?????? lol
