Another weird one...

was on a fairly long motorway drive today, pulled up for 5 mins or so. thought it check the oil while waiting.. all good. anyway i felt the pipes going in/out of the intercooler and i was rather shocked to find the pipe OUT of the cooler was significantly hotter than the pipe IN!?? surely that cant be right!??

Does it need clearing out?

Ta

Ahhh good point.. The top rad hose is pretty close! Do you think it will make much difference? The pipe is hot but id have thought the air is still cool?

cant see a rad hose making it ' hot ', basic physics tell you the heat transfer wont be that much.

Basic physics says metal is a very good conductor of heat! A hot water pipe would heat it up is have thought.. Hmm, not sure how I can stop it! Will it be affecting the heat of the air much?

You have metal pipes?

Never seen a metal top pipe on a rad before, learn summat new every day, do you have metal intercooler pipes anorl?

Noo sorry, just metal intercooler pipe. Rad hose is just standard, but cos its a 200tdi conversion it's a bit closer to the intercooler hose.

Il leave it then! Cheers guys.
