Is my Freelander 1 an early version or a later version?

Hi guys,

I have a Freelander TD4 51 plate. I also know of the reliability problems which Freelanders commonly have. However, many of the articles I've read often say something like: "X problem only really affected the earlier versions of the Freelander 1." What is classed as an "earlier version"?

Also, apparently the IRD/rear diff ratio was changed in "later" versions. Anyone know if my car would have been one of the ones with that particular update?

Cheers

Rich

The running gear was changed 2002/2003 so yes you have a greater risk with vcu/ird but as stated the bmw td4 engine is the best they fitted.
