So, my car (MY2000 4.0 RHD, UK) has always really annoyed me with the seatbelt warning when I first turn it on.
It has about 8 loud chimes in a row to warn me about my seatbelt.
Anyway, I read this forum on how to stop this madness.
https://www.rangerovers.net/threads/seatbelt-chime-how-to-disable-reversible.346003/

On my car, there is a wire on the passenger female buckle only (left front seat).
Disconnecting it as per the linked thread fixed the problem. yey.

But this poses some questions.
Apparently, this was a feature only fitted to NAS spec cars. Why did mine have it?
Assuming my car was always meant for the UK market with this wonder feature, why did they only fit it to the passenger front seat?

Is my car a secret American?

Odd, but there seem to be many anomalies on P38 production, a case of what happened to be available at the time maybe. It could be that the wiring is there on all cars, just tucked away on UK spec cars.

Possibly.
If anybody has a wire under their passenger female buckle let us know.
It may well be something that can be turned on and off using the BeCM. But I couldn't find the option on the simulator thing they have on blackboxsolution.com

Goodness! Mine is MY 2000 4.6 THOR and has no such "feature".....happily. :D
You're missing out.
It's not those three soft chimes you get when you leave the door open and turn the ignition on.
It's the harsh angry ones when something has gone horribly wrong.

I only get two angry beeps now.
One for sunroof not set. It's seized to buggery so that will remain for a while. At least it's watertight (ish)
And one for number plate bulb failure. They work fine, it just has LEDs which apparently just aren't good enough for our precious BeCM.

You need CAN BUS LED's if you must put them in the P38, they have a ballast resistor to draw the correct current and so silence the BECM warning:)

Your car should be proud of its Merkin blood.

I am.

I dunno
I feel like I need to nip this in the bud sooner rather than later.

If I don't she'll be starting her own revolution before long, declaring independence, she'll insist on having her own gun, invading the neighbours garage and might even end up screaming "yee haw" at every speed bump.

Got a feeling the wire might be there but not usually plugged into anything in the UK. Maybe someone plugged it in for peace of mind.

You can set the BECM to "Sunroof Not Fitted" in Nanocom. This disables the sunroof switch & stops the beeps for it.

As for the seatbelt chime, look in the ETSM and see if the switch is NO or NC. Depending on which either just disconnect it, or short it.
