Evening all, a friend of mine has just invited me to join him at a P&P site next sunday in Wigan, Lancashire. I believe it's called Willdor?

I have a standard 300 TDi Disco. I bought the car for a comfy daily driver, doing the odd mild green lane every now and again, which I enjoy and so far have had no problems with.

What I want to know is, should I go to this P&P site in my car? My concern is am I likely to break it? Or am I going to be caking it in awful rotting mud? Obviously the odd little problem I don't mind, but am I likely to end up scraping it to death? Or causing any lasting damage?

Hope my question makes sense, I guess many won't have visited this site, but I suppose most sites are generally similar?

Many thanks in advance, Steve.

Hi Steve, I've been to the site, it's in 'ince' in Wigan. It's a good site but it's very muddy. Some easy bits, some seriously thick mud runs! I did no damage to my defender, but I needed my tow rope! There is also a lot of tracks through woodlands, passable but some are tighter than others! Check it out on YouTube!

Thanks for the reply. I had a quick look on YouTube and it did look muddy and wet, but I thought well it could be dry normally..

I think il leave it and go to Cowm one day. At least I know that place with taking trials bikes, and stick to dry areas. Thanks.

This is why land rovers are built for! Not the school run!

Take it and if anything looks dodgy don't do it. You will have a great day, you'll get to see what your car can actually do and if you get mud on it... Wash it!

Make sure you pressure wash the chassis as well though.

Thanks for the advice! I think the main reason I'm worrying is because I need to do the usual welding before MOT time in April, and I haven't been anywhere dirty for a few weeks so I've got it pretty clean underneath ready for working on. I think il leave it this time, then once it's all welded and shultzed properly I'll have a go then.

Thanks!

it's off Warrington Rd Ince (A573) between platt bridge and Wigan town centre.
Turn into Taylors lane, follow the road over railway bridge and keep going along the track. I'm not sure whether it was this Sunday just gone or next sunday
