Is it possible to test a PAS box......

.......without fitting it????

I got an outwardly tatty-looking 4-bolt PAS box for free when a mate bought an old RR axle, but didn't need the box.

Is there any way to test if it's use-able WITHOUT having to go to the trouble of fitting it (to my non-PAS D90) and plumbing it in?

does it look wet around shafts ,if you center box there shouldnt be free play in drop arm
