Is a snorkel on a V8 pointless?

I have a snorkel fitted to my, err, RRC, Hybrid, 100 inch, what ever it is, anyway, it's not connected to the standard RV8 3.5 twin carb airbox. Firstly I am struggling to find suitable tubing/duct to connect the airbox to the snorkel tube and secondly due to the location of the dizzy it's more likely to loose its spark way before any water reached the airbox intake.

Will connecting up the airbox to the snokel reduce power by restricting airflow?

Any tips on making the dizzy resistant to water in some small capacity with out buying a overpriced waterproof dizzy cap, I tried one of those glove looking things on a RRC a few years back for £40 and it did nothing, the moisture still got in and trapped it.

the main prob isnt the dizzy cap, if you have decent leads , and silicone round the cap joint face. also make sure that there are no other holes for water to get into dizzy . I fitted a breather pipe from dizzy to snorkle . The main prob is coil head , I solved by putting coil head and amplifier inside sealed lexan boxes (with breathers ) . I never had any problems driving thru creeks , and long floods , or even when pressure blasting the engine with a fire hose to test !!
