Hey all !

My name is Andy, from Cyprus, and I am new here. I was hoping to get a few answers to some questions I have regarding used Freelander 2. So I am looking forward to check out a Freelander 2 SD4 HSE, around 12k euro. It has about 149k Miles on it, and I was wondering what your opinion is buying such a car.

Of course during my viewing, I will also take it to a mechanic to check all the appropriate functions and history of the car, but mostly I am concerned if it is worth the buy.

Looking forward meeting you and hearing from you :)

Hi Andy,

I am by no means an expert, so please let me be corrected!

I had a freelander 2 on a 2009 registration Yr - it got written off in 2019 in a RTA and I was paid out £8k market value by the insurers. It have 75000 miles at most! 2.2 turbo diesel SE model.

I was second owner when purchased in 2014, I loved it and every very costly second of it.

Was safe, luxuriously comfy to drive, spacious every girly button going and had enough oomph to take out the teenage boy racers at the lights (I shouldn't admit that being a lady the wrong side of 40+).

It cost me £80 per full tank of fuel.
Over £1k per year in repairs on top of services.

In the five years i had the beauty, I had the rear diff changed. I then had a pinion bearing (forgive my incorrect terminolgy) replaced I think that was something to do with the diff - apparently a well known issue on them.
The suspension springs then went the next year.

Some electrical issue that cost around £1.5k
Something in the door meant I got locked in and had to climb out the other side!

The list goes on ..... the engine on the FL2 are built to last at least 200k miles but the rest of the vehicle will cost a lot to maintain unless you are handy under the bonnet - I am not!

I would absolutely without hesitation buy another! But not at that price with that mileage!

Good luck and I hope that you get more proper, reliable and more sensible advice from the expert members on here than I!
