Hi Guys

If I could ask members for some advice to an intermittent starting fault.

This problem started in the last few weeks, the vehicle will not start unless I jump start it, for instance I drove 10 miles this morning stopped at a garage for fuel, got back in the car, turned the ignition on, once again no lights illuminated on the dash whatsoever, jump started it drove a further 20 miles stopped, and all was ok, back in the vehicle and it started ok.

It can occur sometimes when I stop, all electrical power is zero, no lights on the dash, like the battery has no power at all, then when I jump start it, seems to be ok, like there is nothing wrong.

This year I have installed a new alternator and a new calcium battery which I had checked by today by Halfords, the battery reading was 87% capacity, a good reading.

I would be obliged for any advice to what maybe causing this fault.

Thanks

Google, Forum search, then check earth leads and add more.

Battery to chassis, chassis to engine. In fact I stopped bothering to check old earth leads and replace them with new when I get a Landrover now ... I find it 'cures' maybe 75% opf faults I used to get ... ;)

LOL, s'troo.

I used to get a bloody meter and do the old beep and continuity testing, asked for advice and got all kinds of ****e, especially with my old S3, and decided from then on to just spend a tenner on a couple of decent sized earth straps and fit 'em ... job done in five minutes, no faffing, and is a real upgrade that does what it says on the tin ... ;)

Hi Guys

Thanks for the fast replies, how many earth points are their and how many earth leads do I need to fit.

Locations may help, i.e. chassis to battery etc.

Thanks for the replies it really is appreciated.
