Hi.

Have a problem with my Disco II Brake lights, they only work on alternate presses of the brake pedal, i.e. press 1 on, press 2 fail, press 3 on and so on. this causes a little problem as I can never remember which press of the pedal I am on and whether the lights will actually work or not lol.

Any suggestions where the fault is likely to be? I am assuming the switch but haven't yet been under the pedals to check.

Your help and suggestions gratefully received.

Ian

I'm guessing switch 1st as well as it sounds to predictable doing it every other time to be a bad earth . But still worth pulling fuse and switch plug and cleaning the contacts while you under there

take into account what's quoted first
Switch - brake light

The brake switch is set automatically during fitment.
If the setting is disturbed, the switch can be reset by
depressing the brake pedal and pulling the plunger
out of the switch body, until it contacts the pedal.

That's great, thanks all. You've confirmed my thoughts, will give it a try over the weekend.

I had this on my Disco 1, it ended up just being the connection in the bulb holder! Not sure if its the same on the 2 but might be worth a try! Same with the indicator bulb holders.

Switch is definitely faulty, so good place to start and hope that replacement sorts it, thanks for all your suggestions. and for the note on setting the plunger, i'll bear that in mind as I fit the new one.
