Afternoon all.

I have an intermitent problem with my speedo going dead when changing gear or in neutral whilst moving, as soon as i engage a gear and continue driving it jumps back up. 300 tdi engine on a 95 discovery.
It doent bother me to much as it only happens for a few seconds during random gear changes but I´m worried it could be on the way out so would rather replace/fix/tighten what ever it is before it goes bang.
Any help greatfully received.

had the same on my 97 - in my case it was the TB sender unit going kaput - the wiring to it is also subject to some grief - hopefully this is your problem - the sensor doohicky was a few quid IIRC.

Well as your speedo drive is electrical driven from a transducer mounted on the side of the transfer box its doesn’t have any mechanical association with the gearbox, but it the transducer has an iffy plug connection any jarring will give the symptoms u described.
For replacement unit if required its YBE100540 what they cost in euros in Spain I haven a clue, but the link show what is expected in the UK https://www.lrdirect.com/YBE100540-...lWPepTZw9AwvdNr9RKIMMjSjExxBX-nhoCqfMQAvD_BwE

Thanks for the replies, I have spanish MOT or ITV booked for wednesday morning so going to be spending the next couple of evenings getting the old girl ship shape so will have a poke about and see what I find.
