Intermitent cut out

I have a 96 3.9 v8 disco and yesterday it started to cut out around 30-40mph it only happens for a second then sorts it self out but during the day it happend more and more. I have checked the coil,leads and dizy cap and all seem ok. Does anyone have any sugestions where the problem may lie.

Fuel filter is a possibility and it's cheap and easy to do.

fuel filter would be my first port of call on a V8 anorl.
