intermitant turbo?

I have posted about my disco and its under poweredness before but now im certain there is a problem.

It would seam that the turbo it not always cutting in, its as if I need to put my foot down a bit more than I think I should need to' then all of a sudden it is infinatly more responsive and there is a definate feeling of power as I drive. This is very confusing, at first I thought the waste gate was stuck open thus loosing boost but now im not so sure. Any ideas?

Sorry I should have said. Its a D1 300tdi

Thanks anyway.

The disco is running ok today the turbo is cutting in, I have only done 12 miles though. It is a very frustrating problem.

does the disco have a manual injector pump with throttle cable or or is it the drive by wire electric pump?

its the manual cable type

check the rubber/ plastic hose from the wastegate to the injector pump for any cracks ,splits or kinks . i had a similar problem and the hose was damaged
