Today I fitted a new MAF (and housing), on the test drive I noticed a whistle/whoosing sound when taking my foot off the throttle, then I noticed it on heavy load and again when I took my foot off.
I've checked all the pipes for splits and loose clamps etc and they seem good, I can't think why a MAF change would cause this as it's part of the intake that isn't under any pressure/vacuum.
Could a new MAF cause new higher turbo boost and waste gate action?
It doesn't feel any different when driving, no smoke etc.
Thanks

Some cheaper MAF housings are a bad fit and leak air.
I swapped the new MAF into old housing as it was a better fit.
Might be cause of your noise?

My initial plan was to just swap the MAF but the screws were damaged and none of my security torx would fit but they did fit the new one so I ended swapping the housing as well.
It was a tight fit into the air box, tighter than the one I removed, even if it was loose I don’t see how that would cause the whistle when I take my foot off.

Unless it is simply getting more boost due to the higher MAF signal and you haven't heard it like that for a while ?!

Does it drive ok with no black smoke?
