Hi,
My D2 have a strange behaviour with the interior lights.
Every time that I open a door, the lights are turned on but they shutoff after 15sec independently if the doors are close or still open. by different words, I open a door, the lights are turned on, I keep the door open and 15seconds after the lights are shutdown.
Does anyone know how to change this behaviour?
I want that the lights are turned on while I have the door open and as soon as I close the door, the lights are turned down...
Thanks for the support

Does it do it with the door slightly open as well? Thinking the switch may have a dead spot at full extension

Actually switches normally work the other way round, make contact when door is closed only...does it do the same with each door?

Odd, I'd expect them to stay on for a bit after closing the door if the engine is not running and go out straight away when it is running.

I was expecting the same. This issue is worst during the night when I stop to give a lift to anyone and the person enters in the car and the are keeping on during 20sec wit the motor running and all doors closed. Then I cannot drive properly because of the light inside... :(

Hi.
This behaviour is very like when the vehicle is set to ''Transit" mode. See the attachment with the operation mode.

Try the following trick which is a bit fiddly: lock/unlock the vehicle with the fob, with ignition off simultaneously hold down the heated rear window switch and the rear fog lamp switch, turn the ignition to position II and after 5 seconds release both switches... then remove the key, lock/unlock and see how the lamps are behaving then.... if it's still the same we'll speak again,

i presume that your vehicle is on coils otherwise the SLS warning lamp should be on if there's not some improvisation made

Hi,

Your explanation makes all sense. As soon as a arrive home I will test the procedure. Thanks a lot.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WORKED !!!!!!!!!!!!
Many thanks @sierrafery ! I had talked with several mechanics and "experts" and no one had this in mind.
It was very hard to make it since that I was alone in the car and has you are imagine, heated rear window and rear fog are in oposite site of the wheel and to then turn the key to position 2... :)

By the way, where have you found this information about the sequence?

I tried to test then all use cases and it worked. I just couldn't test to leave the door open more than 10 min to see if it was automatically shutdown the lights but as soon as I have some time I will try it.

I'm glad it's sorted... the information is in the workshop manual at the BCU description section... though to know where to search such informations it's necessary to read the whole manual page by page(all 1700 of them) like i did.... not once
