Hi
This is in my dads 53 plate Freelander 1 the center light works when you open the doors and you can switch it on and off when inside the car but the two reading lights on each side won't work at all!

I've checked the bulbs/fuses and still nothing I've also got a second hand unit from work which worked but when plugged into his car It won't.

Just wondering if anyone has come across this, before before I strip some interior panels back to chase the wiring!

Thanks

I've tryed taking them out and refitting them but not tryed cleaning them I'll give it a ago it just seems weird that both of them have stopped working!

Thanks

I had exactly this. It turned out to be totally corroded contacts between the wiring loom and the PCB in the lights unit. So corroded the tracks went and the actual contacts in the connector broke.

Short of a massive loom change, the only solution is to cut the connector off the loom and SOLDER the wires direct onto the PCB. I could not find the connector at all as a spare.

Another possibility is to cut the connector and PCB assembly from a scrapper and connect the new wires to the old with crimps, solder or a 'chocolate block'

If you can solder its a 5 min job. If you cant find someone who can.

Oh right I'll have to have a close look at the plug and contacts on the back of the unit when I get home I've got a soldering iron so I'll probably give that ago if there is some corrosion!

Thanks
