dome light

Hi been a while but just purchased a 53 reg freelander td4 my only problem so far.
The front dome/ courtesy light main centre light works when any of the doors open including the rears the map lights or the main light do not work with the switches / buttons but if i remove the dome light from the car i can get everything working how it should via a separate 12v source thanks for any ideas

These normally get corroded from a leaking aerial seal, which caused bad connections.
From memory, the wiring is very simple. There's a permanent live, a switched ground for the light to come on with the doors, and a permanent ground for the map lights. If the wires are doing as described, then it must be a bad connection inside the light.
