Question that even sureterm havn't answered properly

Have series 3, now MOT'd and going on the road soon, currently set up as estate wagon(?) station wagon, windowed van - not sure what to call her. If I was to remove the top and leave her fully open can it legally be driven on the road? and what is the correct name for this as its not a pickup like sureterm wanted me to call it.

Do have hood sticks so could put these on but no canvas!

Any ideas

Cheers

so your reckoning on having an open back cab:eek:

yes! Enjoy the sun whilst its out and cover when the fog descends.

Think i've nearly got the answer

Sureterm - just need to ring and adjust policy when the top comes off,
but/when it does also need to change details with DVLA on the V5 to.................

thats the question is it then just an open back truck? soft top if i use the hoops?

hard top going to have to come off, garage just not tall enough.

anyone know how much shorter hoops are than van top?

hope it fits in or i'm f***ed, haha

you might find that a bit of a grey area, dont actually know the answer tbh but you may find that if its declared a hard top then technically its a hard top and thats that as far as insurance goes, i know its easy to change them to soft top, pick up etc but in the world of insurance it may be classed as a major modification??? as youve completely changed the vehicle designation by doing it?
however as its a landy and you havnt actually effected the general structure of the vehicle then as long as its declared then they may be fine, bit of a concern if sureterm couldnt answer it! they been dealing with landys for years.
