My 1986 year LR90 N/A is in Insurance Group 6.
My 2002 year LR Defender 90 TD5 is in Insurance Group 12.
I imagine that the improved engine performance of the TD5 would account for a higher Group rating but an increase from 6 to 12, for what is ostensibly the same vehicle, seems incredulous.
In insurance terms, the labour cost of repairing a 1986 vehicle or a 2002 vehicle is probably very similar - the cost of body parts are probably the same.
Why then, can anybody tell me, is there such a gaping disparity between the two vehicles? (My insurance company couldn't!)
