Anyone ever had any trouble with insuarnce claims and people who caused the accident not admitting liability?

What happens if both people never admit liability?

The police did attend the scene of the accident - but I don't know if any words regarding the liability were spoken but will the police have written down who they believe to be at fault?

they should have a record of what and how it happend, and so be able to make up there mind who they belive to be at fault after talking to both partys

How did you get the police involved? Did your insurer do this for you or did you contact them and get the ball rolling? If I need to rely on my insurer I am goosed!

What happened? What was the accident?

My dad had a crash in his old Mk1 Fiesta (Ghia, in gold, Niiice... :)) took 18 months for the claim to be settled, wasn't his fault, but the other insurance company ended up taking them to court (my dad is a copper and agreed whole heartedly) where the other insurance company simply failed to attend, sending a fax saying that actually, they didn't have a good enough case. So the court forced them to pay my dad about £700 for his £400 car, cos of the HUUGE storage costs that out front lawn charges, :D etc

Happened to me years ago, unfortunately for me their friends were following in the car behind them when they cut across me coming the opposite way at the traffic lights. They claimed the light had turned red which was bull as it was still green after I ploughed into their passenger door. Their friend behind got out & said see you back home & everyone buggered off while I called & waited for the police. Six months later my insurance company paid up claiming they had two independent witnesses, one of which was their buds behind.
Sometimes you've just got to suck it up & get on with it but I was bitter about it for a couple of years after.

I hit a escort van. he came flying out from under a railway bridge out of a double bend. and there was noway to see whats coming the otherway both of us braked and he scraped the side of his van down the corner of the my maestro vans bumper. I didn't suffer any damage and he only had paint scratches. both agreed it was his fault and off we went on out merry way. 1 month later I get a bill for £900 off his insurance company for his uninsured losses. he claimed for loss of earnings (self employed DHL driver) complete respray, van hire whilst his was been sprayed. etc etc So I told his insurers to **** off and told them to forward all further correspondence thru my insurer. 18months later I get told It's a no fault accident and that each insurer will pay the others costs. When I pointed out I hadn't incurred any costs or made a claim for any damages I was told the legal bill for sorting it all out on my side had come to £8500 I'm assuming that his sides bills were probably the same. I don't think they were happy with the letter I sent suggesting that if they'd told the scamming scouse bastid to **** off and die like I'd suggested in the first place the huge bill wouldn't have been necessary. Because they declined to renew my insurance the following month.
