Hi all.
Having problems with the instrument cluster ie it stops working and various warning lights come on and stay on until I switch ignition off/on, plugged in Hawkeye and got the following code's 5E12 and 5E16 which mentions instrument pack time out ? However I'm lead to believe they are canbus errors.
I have replaced the ignition switch but the problem is still there so I'm thinking of replacing the instrument cluster but I don't fancy paying £300-£400 new from a dealer when I can get a new one on e-bay for £150 but the problem is the cluster part numbers are different though the clusters look identical ie fitted on mine is YAC 500 330 and the one on e-bay is YAC 500 370 would there a problem if I fitted a 370 instead of 330?
Many thanks
George

why dont you get a second hand one on ebay for around £20ish rather than a new one?
I would recommend getting an identical number item

Disconnect the battery and unplug then plug in (several times) the rear connectors on the cluster and see if this improves things. Free to try.

Depended on the year of the vehicle. Swapping clusters isnt as easy as just replacing the part. So a second hand from a breaker wont do you much good.

Why not??

I changed mine for a second hand one (with the same part number) from ebay and it works perfectly and was a breeze to fit..

You have the early instrument cluster and then there is no problem swapping them over. Td4 and 1.8 post 2002 you will need to program the cluster.
