Injector pump advice.

Hello in here, wonder if you chaps could advise me. She is dirty, wet, troublesome, expensive and although I love her I am contemplating giving her the boot. But enough about the wife.

She started to guff out black smoke under acceleration and the garage thought it was likely to be the injector pump and told me I would have to take her to a specialist diesel place and the part could be £500!!!

The question is are there lots of versions of this pump for the 2.5td(1989) or will one like THIS fit all ?

Is it a big job? (not that I will be doing it as my tools are mostly saws and chisels.)

what state is your air filter in ? - a good service and a dose of that injector cleaning might work

maybe your pump has been played with and it's overfueling - plenty to try first before you start splashing big cash

If it is the injector pump, buy a disco 200tdi and whack that in instead. Thats what i did when my pump died.

They checked the air filter which was replaced five months ago when seviced and the whole thing was rebuilt 18 months ago.

Blimey whacking in an engine sounds nice , who do I call for that?

Thats a Lucas injector pump. take the badge off of yours and e mail the e-bay guy with your data badge numbers.
