Injector pump adjustment?

The recon pump came from craddocks, i've no idea if they do good recons or not!

your better with local injection specialist lare companys are after price,and often poor ,i had 3 pumps with no fuel at cranking yet machine tested ok all recon ,if symptoms occurred since fitting pump ,get another or it done properly

Pump was fitted to replace the pump that was on there that was lacking in any power in 4th gear, very hard to start. I had checked everything else and did it as a last resort.

When i first fitted the pump, it smoked black but ran alrite and i had good acceleration in all gears. I took it for a drive, aprox 8 miles, then when i started it after that it, it smoked even worse and lacked acceleration in 4th.

it may be a not as good as could be pump ,but there will be somewear in entire system sometimes fine till touched ,did you do injectors at the same time,injectors will haveworn as old pump did ,a new pump with old injectors might not work well ,in the same way an old pump wont cope with new injectors

No i didnt do the injectors.

I'll order them and fit them to see if it makes any different.

Cheap and easy to get the injectors tested. Like james said a new pump will just blast a jet of fuel from worn injectors, and a worn pump cant open the break pressure of new injectors.

Take them to an injection place and they will test them. And probably do a good job of rebuilding them if needed.

I can sympathise with that mate, its over two miles to the nearest bus stop from here! I live in Kernow so I cant really give any suggestions round you, Google and Yellow Pages probably yer best bet. You might be surprised, they aint always very high profile, could be closer than you think!
If you can find one you can get to it is worth it, they should care more about your trade than a big national concern, and they will probably givee you some background advice and support.

I work with a couple of landy owners so they might have a heads up on local guys.

Guess i'll have to dust off the push bike again! Thankfully i have a lift to work for now!

Good plan, old tractor folk often know these places too, a lot of tracs have this kind of pump, usually not fitted on a stalk at the side of the engine tho.
Dont get disheartened, usual with diesels is like james said, they run a long time and then everything is so worn you end up changing haeps of stuff. Upside is, once you do get it good all thruogh you should be all set for another 100,000 trouble free miles.
Console yaself on your bike journeys with the thought that you are doing it at a time of the most expensive fuel in history, seems to go up daily atm.

I didn't think of tractor places, i used to work on a farm and drove old masseys which share the same type of pump! Best give the old boss a ring!

My family keep telling me to sell the old thing, but i keep telling them that it'll still be going long after their cars have been weighed in!

Thats abit bigger than the ones i used.

I've spent many an hour driving 35s and 135s. We had the oil out of a 35 2 years ago that hadnt been changed since the farmers dad bought it back in the 70s. Nice creamy colour it was!

did my apprenticeship on those + 1200s and later 4840s etc

I wouldn't mind one for a project once i've got the landy going good again. Would be fun to drive that to work!

Surprisingly i've managed to speak to a local land rover place that has a contact for testing injectors, but they said they didn't tend to bother testing them as they can supply a set for £72 plus vat.

I'm thinking this is a sales tactic more than anything?

local injection specialist would be better than lr indie unless they are engineers and not mechanics

I've found a local specialist place online thankfully.

One thing i'm not sure on, are the injectors common rail or conventional injectors. I think they are conventional injectors.
