which one 699 ? your lucky doors are still in one piece ive spent some hours in a 698:)
Soz james, missed this before Iwent out!
690. Lovely trac. beautiifully balanced front and back, classic massey three sticks on the floor setup, same as the old 35sand so on just scaled up.
Like you say the weak spot on these is the cabs and doors. Poor quality French steel I have been told. I strip any areas of rust i see and paint with corroless, always parked under cover seems to be holding it atm, touch wood!

yes they are,we used to run a 698 2wd as mostly arable so no loader ,biggest issue was dirty fuel blocking transfer pipe between the 2 tanks that and cab rot ,id love another if circumstances allowed, yours looks a treat for its age:)

Thats abit bigger than the ones i used.

I've spent many an hour driving 35s and 135s. We had the oil out of a 35 2 years ago that hadnt been changed since the farmers dad bought it back in the 70s. Nice creamy colour it was!
If youre a 35 fan check this, another DPA injected classic in daily use on a Kernish farm!

our neighbour has one for playing ,couldnt get his plough set as he had wheels set at widest ,a professor playing at the good life

I was taught to maintain kit in excess of scheduled requirements, operate it within its limits and establish and cure the root cause if there were problems. Seems to be working, I rarely get anything break down or wear out. On a small farm there isnt the income to be spending loads on machinery, Ive found the approach of trying to run appreciating classics instead of depreciating moderns to be a good one. Ive been self employed 30 years and that massey is the newest vehicle Ive ever had :D
Its on a Y plate.

Go to a few trac rallies and stuff, plenty of peeps like that there. Nice to see the kit but some of it is really over restored imo.
Gotta love the good lifers, they buy a few store bullocks an that off me!

it was our newest machine the others were 10/60 nuffield ,fordson super major ,d272 allis chalmers ,grey fergie and a dexta which is the only one i wasnt keen on

In the 20 years here Ive worked Nuffield( not sure no. about 40 hp), fordson diesel major, International 674?, and a few dbs, I think 990 and 996. Not tried allis but would like too. Not a dexta fan either.
Went up to the massey mainly because the big silage bales are so big and heavy now, loved working the older tracs and had few problems.

Still an interesting life, but not as good as when we were growing up. A lot of stress an hassle has been invented for the country folk since then.
Ever thought of getting a nice machine for rallying? Always looks a fun scene to me and would fitin well with your skills profile!

Nice project to have in reserve. Im offten envious of the trac. people at shows, when we go by theyre always sat by their machineschatting to each other and drinking tea.
No grooming, feeding, watering and constant picking up ****, nice few days away. Got to get some sleep, early start tomoz. Later james!:)
