injector loom.wiring doom.

Can anyone tell me why oil in the injector wiring loom causes the car to missfire? Is it the oil reaching the red scart plug and causing a short in the electrics,or does the oil actually get inside the wiring in the head and disrupt the injectors? I've ordered a new loom cause i've got seepage in the red plug.I've cleaned and degreased with solvent so there is now non in the plug or the ecu,but is still missing like mad,so can only assume that the oil disrupts the signal somewhere else.Also does the oil seep down the inside of the wires,if so how do you get it out without replacing all the ignition wiring loom.I've checked other threads which have proved really useful but can't get my head round why its still missing with the oil gone from the plugs etc.many thanks hope someone can shed some light.:doh:

definately no oil in the ecu?
the oil is pulled down the inside of the cable with the conductors by capillary action.

I've had the lid off the ecu and is completly dry and clear.Maybe as soon as i started it up again the oil pooled in the plug socket again which is causing the short.I'm hoping that when the new loom gets here it will cure it, but because i like to know as much as possible about things, just fixing it isn't good enough, I want to know why.If its coming down the inside of the cable,wont it just keep trickling down until its all gone,after the loom has been changed.or do i strip back the wires to expose the copper and then dry and reseal. yu will never loose it - it comes from the injun and wicks down the copper strands of wire. replace the loom and wait.

yu need to change the engine loom, not necessarily the ECU loom.

if i run it with it missing will i do damage to the engine?I think its only missin on one at the mo'.I have only ordered the engine loom,thanks.
