Hello all,

Well after 3 years of relatively trouble free motoring and thinking I'd gotten away with it, I've finally had the dreaded 'Air Susp Inactive' message flash up! Nooooo!

Is it simply a case of having the fault cleared using a plug-in? If so is there anyone in east Essex (Colchester way) that has a Faultmate or such that would be willing to sort it for some beers?

Or does this mean something is going to need replacing?

Thanks, Voguely

Depends on the fault that is logged...!!

Oftentimes it is just a glitch, but see which code is logged and take a view....

It has been known for other failures (and I am not trying to be a doom merchant) but issues with the ABS, HDC or the Steering Angle sensor can through up a EAS Fault....do you have any other warning lights or is it just the EAS??

Take a gander at the ride height selection switch - any lights on that??

Thanks for the quick reply.

No light on the ride heigh selector.

Isn't giving me any other warnings at the moment, just that. Is there a way to find out what code is being logged without plugging in a diagnostic tool?

Diagnostic only I am affraid - Local LR dealer will plug in and diagnose for you and if you get a decent one they'll only charge Half Hour for it but that is still about £65....

Save up for the All Comms (about £200 odd) will pay for itself after a couple of uses.

No lights indicates a hard fault - so as Hippo says below, most likely the compressor.

If it had lights on the switch, this usually indicates soft fault - the system will level itself to standard but ride selection is switched off. this is usualy caused by a height sensor.

Could be compressor dead or on its way out
Mine done the same
+1

Thanks Saint, looks like I'm off to a garage then! I'm planning on changing cars within the next few months anyway so probably not worth buying a Faultmate or such in my case.

Changing cars !?!?!!

As in getting rid of your range ??? :S

I know, heresy isn't it! Got a few ideas in my head though what I might replace it with. All are equally, if not more ridiculous in terms of running costs and breakability (TVRs, Astons etc).

Rewmer - thanks for the tip on the good indie. I used LRS Engineering near Halstead last time and they were good too. Plus the guy there was happy to sort me out an armed forces discount which always puts garages in my good books! You know if the place on Mersea Island is any good? (Can't remember the name of the place) They seem to do a lot of off-road prep, exped vehicles etc.

I'd put my money on the compressor. They don't last long anymore. It could be something as simple as the relay.

The L322 suspension are relatively easy systems, more so than the P38.

It could be one of 4 things. Canbus fault, height sensor, compressor, relay.
