Is there a way to disable the immobiliser on a Discovery 1 1998 for good, I have been caught out 3 times now in the last month, each time costing me £75 to get the key fob reset to the car!

Really getting fed up with this...

Is there a way to get this switched off for good!

I would assume yes but it would be hard,

I would think it would be a case of locating the device first then disconnecting it from the battery so its on its own, then let its independent battery run down,

Or you can do it the only true way I know of which is taking it to a garage and paying them to take the engine bay apart and remove it

Yes, the so called 'spider' immobilising ECU which is located behind the dash can be bypassed unless u have a diesel with EDC, unless u have a diesel with EDC in which case u don't have a spider, loads of info on that in the various forums.
You will still require your fob for the central locking and alarm.

I honestly don't care about Central locking or Alarm, I do do without either, never lock my cars anyway! But it is a diesel 300TDi. I have searched the web but there seems to be a lack on info on this subject, and it seems a shame to just scrap the vehicle, but thats what I will have to do if I cannot disable the blummin immobiliser,

Immobiliser element is easy to bypass, but posting a howto on a public forum is asking for trouble

Long term answer is to execute all car thieves then we can do away with all this security nonsense altogether happy days all round

You may have a 300TDi but does it have electronic diesel control (EDC).

Why not just fit the bypass link the simple option.

Simple enough to unplug the security ECU or even pull the fuse, and then install direct feeds to replace the feeds that the ECU removed 'immobilise' and then supplied to remobilise the engine.

As fanatic quite rightly states a "how to" is not something for forums, although it's there I believe, but if u have an understanding of the vehicle security system, which is simple. then it's job done.
