New p38 owner, have only one key and it won't unlock the doors with the button which doesn't bother me as it will rarely be locked but from reading this and other sites there seems to be immobiliser issues,I'm wondering would it be safer to just bypass immobiliser.
I've a nanocom ordered, will be able to do it?

I havent done it but as far I remember yes it does.
I would recommend, as nanocom does so much then you need to be VERY careful if you make changes and they have unintended consequences. Always make a note of the original settings before you change stuff

It turns off passive immobilisation only but it will reduce issues with using just the key.

Your main issue will be if the microswitches in the driver's door start acting up.

Does the fob light up? Is the RF receiver plugged in? Brian has a cheap fix for RF issues, Marty has a reasonably priced fix and Land Rover have a loony price solution.

With Nanocom, you will be able to turn off EKA and the Immobiliser, the car will then work happily with just the key, even the drivers door lock issues are reduced. I have 2 P38's operating that way. In this mode you can also disconnect the aerial from the FOB receiver to eliminate one source of battery drain.

Sorry to hijack thread, but is it possible to remove/bypass the immobiliser in engine ECU? Thanks

On diesel? Well, if you get a replacement chip for the engine ECU, copy the data over but don't set the chip to secure (is that the right word? There's a term for it) then you can leave it with a default that always allows the engine to start.

A new EDC can be set to secure or left as it comes unsecure so it doesn't need a code. You cannot just get a chip and copy the data over, even if you did the secure status flag would be copied over.

What’s the name of that ecu chip you had/have in yours Wammers?
Must write it down

Don't know, it was in when i bought the car and have never investigated it. Only thing i know is that it is superb. A new ECU can be left open or set robust, but one that has been set robust cannot be returned to it's previous state.
