please can anyone help. We have a p reg 300 tdi which at the moment is going no-where. The key fob only works when it feels like it and at first the immoiliser would come on and stay on for a few minutes, but now its stopping on for hours at a time. We have bought the bypass wire (part amr 4956) but after removing the dash, the spider must have run of, we dont have one. Has anyone got any idea where you go from here? It's not an automatic and it deffinately HAS an immobiliser as this little red car on the dash keeps flashing at us. Many thanks in advance

Have you tried the EKA ? (Emergency Key Access - negates the need for the alarm fob)

From 1996/97 300 Tdi Discovery Owners Manual

Locks and Alarm.

Engine Immobilisation Override (entering the emergency key access code)
If the handset is lost or fails to operate, the engine can be re-mobilised by using the key to enter a unique four digit emergency key access code. The code is recorded on the Security Information Card and is entered as follows:

IMPORTANT: ENSURE each key movement is carried out with care and precision and turned through the full extent of its travel.
After turning the key to either the lock or unlock positions, make sure it is FULLY returned to the centre (vertical) position.
If a digit is entered incorrectly, the WHOLE code can be cancelled by returning to operation ‘1’ and starting again.

1. Using the key. Turn the drivers door lock clockwise to the LOCK position and hold in this position for at least 5 seconds. Then return the key to the centre position. It is now possible to enter the separate numerical values of the four digits that make up the emergency key access code.

2. Enter the first digit of the code. If the first digit is 4, turn the key (anti-clockwise) to the UNLOCK position 4 times. Ensure the key is returned fully to the centre position after each turn of the key.

3. Enter the second digit of the code. If the second digit is 3, turn the key to the LOCK position 3 times. Remember the key must be fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.

4. Enter the third digit of the code. If the third digit is 2, turn the key to the UNLOCK position twice, ensuring that the key is fully returned to the centre position after each turn of the key.

5. Enter the Fourth digit of the code. If the fourth digit is 1 turn the key to the LOCK position once. Ensure the key is fully returned to the centre position after the key has been turned.

6. FINALLY, turn the key to the UNLOCK position once more to disarm the alarm and re-mobilise the engine. If the code has been entered successfully, the anti-theft alarm indicator light on the instrument panel will extinguish and the engine can be started.

If an incorrect code has been entered the sounder will bleep twice and the anti-theft alarm indicator light will continue to flash. In this case, return to ‘1’ and re-enter the code.

After three failed entry attempts, the security system invokes a delay period of thirty minutes during which the system will not accept any further attempts to enter a code.

NOTE: Once the engine immobiliser has been deactivated by entering the emergency key access code, it will remain inactive until a handset is used to lock the vehicle.

thanks for that paul but yes we have tried the EKA but with no luck, just will not accept it. We have now sent (should be on its way as we speak) the key fob to remote key place and just hoping that ,that is what the problem is. Fingers crossed.......... and everything else lol.

LOL, fine ... but no need to start a new thread! Check the thread you originally made and when you want to reply, hit the reply button, not the New thread button .. ;)

OK. You say you can't find the spider .. gotta ask without being patronising, but do you know what you're looking for when you say you can't find it? Are you following a set of instructions? If so, which ones, are they on the web?

Reason I ask is a mate of mine said exactly the same .. but he had hold of the spider when he was saying it!!

Jilly. I'm with paul on this one. You must have a spider cos otherwise your immobiliser wouldn't work. Where have you looked for the box so far?

If you have no joy and want to get it to a garage pm me and i'll tell you how to manually bypass the immobiliser to get it to a garage.

you might never get to read this as im not sure what im doing on here. Bet you would never have guessed lol. Well here goes even if no-one ever reads this. We followed Bogmonsters instructions on finding the little bu%*er, but it's deffinately not there(the spider) but it deffinately has an immobilisor and it worked fine for months but now the red car light on the dash spends more time driving than we do and we can't get the EKA code to work either. We have now sent the key fob of to remote key thingy place so hope that solves it. Thankyou to everyone who has tried to help though and if you could let us know how to bypass the immobiliser ratty, that would be great as we might not have fob back till Monday and need to do shopping lol. By the way why have i moved lol:confused:????

hi there everyone who tried to help on this matter. Problem has been solved by having the key fob re-conditioned(fingers crossed lol) Remote key limited were very helpful over the phone and as it was our only fob , they said they would do it as quick as possible. We posted it thursday mid morning and it was back dinner time saturday. Every thing now working great. Thanks to everyone who helped. :)

hi there anyone. Does anyone know if remote key limited have an e-mail addy? If they do could you please let me know. Thankyou

Is it possible this is an aftermarket alarm system? I know you can wire in any typical alarm system and wire the LED to work the 'little red car' on the dash so perhaps this is not a factory immobiliser and the spider as indeed been binned?

regards

Dave

It might be worth your while and checking out the fuel solenoid bypass in case of any future problems.
