immobiliser issues - td5

Hello everyone,

have tried looking for a thread in hope its a common issue, but no such luck!

OK........

Friday i changed my sidelight bulbs as they were getting a little dim.
after changing them i went to lock the car and they key fob would not lock the car......

found the spare and this again would not lock the car....

i locked the car manually with the key, and thought nothing of it.

went to use the car next and it would not open with the button, so opened it manually, and the immobiliser would not disarm (permenant red light on dash when ignition on)

for some reason it decided to start after several opening and closing cycles.....

this is now a recurring problem, occationally it locks and opens as normal, other times it wont lock or open with the button......

I just spent 2 hours stuck in a field with the blasted thing because of the immobiliser!

So what i've tried:

- Key fob battery - replaced in both keys
- car battery - replaced
- even had the new sidelight bulbs out and put the old ones back to double check......

please can someone help? im lost without a car and the 50 mile journey to work tomorrow is approaching fast......

U might have problem with the receiver...it is between the sunroofs(in the front of the rear one)...this one could make tricks cos it must receive the signal from the handset and from the passive remobilisation coil to mobilise the vehicle.

I hope u have RAVE, if not then download one and checkout the Workshop manual > Alarm system and horn > Repairs > Receiver....just to know how to reach it.
